On Saturday 2nd May 2026, members of the Royal Naval Association travelled to Twickenham Stadium to join their Army colleagues for the annual Army v Navy Rugby Union match, one of the highlights of the military sporting calendar.
In front of a passionate crowd and a fantastic atmosphere, the Royal Navy once again came out on top, securing victory for the second year running with a thrilling final score of 41 to 36. The match itself was fiercely contested from start to finish, with both sides showing determination, pride, and the strong competitive spirit that has long defined the historic rivalry between the Armed Forces teams.
While the result was celebrated by the naval contingent, the day was about far more than rugby alone. Members enjoyed the opportunity to meet up with old friends and comrades, sharing stories, laughter, and plenty of good humour throughout the occasion. The annual fixture continues to be an important tradition, bringing together serving personnel, veterans, families, and supporters in a celebration of camaraderie and service.
Following the final whistle, both sides joined together in true military fashion, proving that while fierce rivalry exists on the pitch, the bonds of friendship and mutual respect remain just as strong off it. By the end of the day, everyone had enjoyed a memorable occasion and, as always, a jolly good time in the company of fellow comrades.
